Brazil Pinhal: A Partnership Rooted in Sustainability and Excellence

Our Long-Term Partnership with Brazil Pinhal Farm

Brazil Pinhal is not just another coffee on the shelf; it embodies the sustainable practices and community-focused values of our long-term partner, Pedro Gabarra. Since 2017, Silva Coffee Roasters has been using Pedro's coffees, bringing his exceptional beans and inspiring commitment to sustainability.

Pedro Gabarra, a fifth-generation coffee grower in the family, is known not only for his kindness but also as a visionary leader dedicated to producing outstanding coffee while positively impacting the environment and his community. In 2017, Silva Coffee Roasters had the pleasure of hosting Pedro at our roastery, where he shared his passion for sustainable coffee farming. Everyone who met Pedro remembers his warm and genuine persona, a true reflection of his memorable coffee.

A Commitment with Sustainability

Pedro's Pinhal and Santo Antonio farms preserve over 40% of the natural habitat on their land – more than double the legal requirement set by Brazilian legislation. Additionally, 70 hectares are dedicated to the SOS Mata Atlantica Project, aimed at restoring the Atlantic Forest. Local children participate in tree planting as part of the farm's Children's Education Program, promoting the importance of environmental sustainability from a young age.

Pedro's farm also focuses on advanced sustainability practices, including solar energy, waste management and water conservation. As of 2019, Pinhal Farm was recognised as Brazil's most sustainable farm, holding a range of other sustainable certifications, including Rainforest Certified, Carbon Negative, BSCA, and AAA Espresso, demonstrating his commitment to sustainable and quality-focused farming.

The Wings Project

One of the most impactful initatives coming from Pinhal Farm is the Wings Project (ASAS – Area de Soltura de Animais Silvestres- Wild Animals Release Area). This project focuses on the rehabilitation and release of threatened and illegally traded animals back into their natural habitats within the protected forest areas of the farm.

Pedro's sister, Mariana Gabarra, plays a crucial role in the Wings Project, driving its mission forward and helping to expand its impact.

We are proud to continue our partnership with Pedro and bring Brazil Pinhal to you. So, next time you brew a cup, remember that it's not just a coffee - it is kind connections and embracing nature!
